COVID – RULES & REGULATIONS
2020 risk assessment.
Premises – All Saints Weston. Chestnut Avenue, Weston Green, Esher KT10 8JL
PERSONAL SPACE *We have measured the dance hall and will be dividing the children’s work space into 3 metre by 2+ metre spaces. This will be outlined by marking the floor and will allow for no more than 10-12 children in a class. Extra space on top of this has been allocated for teacher and assistant by opening the area of hall usually used as waiting and changing room.
Student dance assistants will not attend until further notice.
*Children not attending ‘in person’ classes have been offered alternative online class.
*Hallway, Kitchen and store room will also be left clear. We will not be serving refreshments for the time being. Parents will be asked to kindly wait outside/in their car in church car park and when deemed safe and when possible, we may then have a separate waiting room in the church or be able to use the All Saints Church itself. We have suggested parents bring own flask/drink for the time being until we have use of kitchen.
*Depending on the number of people in the All Saints Hall, it is possible that a parent waiting for 2 children in 2 different classes could wait on the premises using the kitchen area.
SAFE ARRIVAL & EXIT *Children under the age of 16yrs should not be left unattended – Parents asked to always inform teacher or another class parent if an older child is to be left for any reason and check child always has parent’s contact number to hand in their dance bag. Parents asked to please always accompany their child to the hall entrance, waiting to make sure they are safely inside and not let child run up from car park alone in case hall is closed for any reason.
*Upon arrival parents and dancers have been asked to line up 2 metres apart outside hall close to ‘way in’ making sure they do not block the walkway at any time as it is occasionally used by passers-by. Children will file in – use hand sanitiser and go straight to their chosen dance space. They will keep this space for the whole class and can choose a different space the following week.
*Child’s dance bag will be left to the side of their own space.
*A few minutes before the end of class parents will wait ready for the children to sanitise their hands and exit studio. We have a different exit to entrance. Children will file out carefully one at a time after parent has given name. Parents asked not to crowd any space.
*Parents have been asked to arrive on time to help with arrangements. Should anyone arrive late, parent can of course pop child into their class but to please use sanitiser by entrance door first.
UNIFORM *Children have been asked to come wearing their dance attire under their outdoor clothes with a big bag to store all of their other clothes and shoes. Please do not arrive in ballet or tap shoes.
*Each Child will need to pop her own clothes and shoes into her bag as well as know how to put on her ballet/tap shoes – stickers could work well for the little ones to get the right foot! And anyone tap dancing has been asked to wear tap shoes that do up with Velcro except for the older dancers.
We have always requested that our younger pupils have white Velcro ‘sticky’ taps as uniform.
Dance PPE *Very young children are not required to wear a mask but some may choose to wear one. Make sure it is comfortable for breathing. Visors for children could be a good alternative to nothing - the same for the older girls. Check rules and regulations for different ages on GOV.UK.
Be as prepared for class as you can be.
Older girls wearing mask/visor will be able to use allocated safe space should they need to ‘breath’ freely. Pupil needs to know how to take own mask/visor off and put back on safely.
The Bloch B-Safe Dancer Mask has been suggested, these now come with own lanyard.

Rules at children’s school will be a good guide.
*Older dancers will be asked to bring yoga mat to use for floor work.
*ALL Dancers hair to be tied right back off face to limit the need to touch face and eyes.
Ventilation and Cleaning*15 Minute breaks will be left between each class for pupils to come and go, to open all doors and refresh the studio air, clean and prepare for next class – windows will be open throughout so warmer clothes will be required come winter.
*If Ballet Barre is used it will be wiped down with anti-bacterial wipe after use.
*Toilets will of course be available should they be needed.
*If anyone from your household have the following symptoms, DO NOT send your child to class.
*Continuous cough, high temperature, shortness of breath. Or if after attending class a family member tests positive then please inform us so that we can let everyone know. We will be keeping a register of those at class each week.
Missed Classes *I will do my best to give online classes to anyone at home due to quarantine rules so they not to miss out.
*I will inform you should I become unwell either by WhatsApp message/email or a notice will be put up at the hall.
*If possible - class will be covered by another teacher or class will be made up another time.
For Government lockdown - If possible, classes will be covered online or work sent out via another online platform.
We are doing all we can to make the return to 'in person' dance classes at All Saints Hall as safe as possible. Please read our assessment and do please speak to us if there are any other precautions you feel we can implement that could help.

Classes are for Infant & Junior aged children.
